AT&T’s flagship store, located in downtown San Francisco, has captured the attention of consumers and the digital world. Not only does it break new ground with how the brand sells their products and services; but it also immerses the customer in compelling new experiential ways.

AT&T set their sights on creating the ‘crown jewel’ of their store fleet by redefining how customers shop for and learn about wireless technology in an increasingly interconnected world. They wanted to create a store that is as much an innovative educational space as a retail space, and there is no city better than San Francisco to create this kind of multi-sensory connected playground.

Opened in September, 1 Powell is an embodiment of AT&T’s new entertainment-based philosophy, as well as their brand promise. Built to manifest their brand in vibrant and innovative new dimensions, it is a living embodiment of their internal mantra ‘the art of the possible’. It is their third flagship and easily their most ambitious to date.

San Francisco is the home of AT&T’s largest retail store. At 24,000 square feet, the three-story space is one of the city’s oldest buildings. For AT&T, it was also an ideal proving ground to communicate that AT&T is more than a mobility company; it is instead a leading transformative voice for the modern connected life.

The first floor of the store houses a plethora of products and services that AT&T offers across their 2,300 retail stores, plus a carefully curated range of exclusive products sourced from San Francisco’s art and tech community.

Upon entry, customers are greeted by a one-of-a-kind 40 x 6 ft. curved digital panorama display. The dynamic screen represents the largest to date that AT&T has installed. Its mere presence, magnified by the compelling creative, is powerful enough to lure potential shoppers walking by the building’s exterior. It represents an unexpected twist to the shopping experience, delivering what customers have called a “jaw-dropping” element to this in-store shopper engagement initiative.

Take the escalator up to the mezzanine where customers are welcomed by a custom hologram that speaks to AT&T's innovation and evolution. The store’s 6,000-square-foot second floor is an interactive, forward-thinking tech playground dedicated to customer service & immersive “connected experiences”.
